RECOGNIZING EXCELLENCE

GIHANA salutes top CSEC achiever Rashell Walker on attaining a whopping 11 subjects amidst adverse circumstances. This truly epitomizes “EXCELLENCE”; our school’s motto. Rashell has also been accepted for training at CASE. (College of Agriculture, Science and Education). In recognition of Rashell’s achievement, the board of GIHANA has voted to assist her with tuition. Congratulations Rashell! The sky is the limit.

REFURBISHING OF HOME ECONOMICS DEPARTMENT
The annual reunion weekend was held in Jamaica this year; (July 3-5). Proceeds from this event to the tune of JA $80 000 was handed over to the school to assist with refurbishing the Home Economics Department of Green Island High School. The association is determined to make the experience of the current students richer and fuller.

At the most recent meeting, coordinators for various committees were selected.
These include:

Communication – Merdell Heron-Richards/ Bancroft Morgan
Members of GIHANA might be co-opted to serve on these committees. Please be willing to assist, if requested. Remember, there is no “I” in “Team”. However, Together Each Achieves More.

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
Our membership drive continues. Log on to our website and become a part of this organization. Encourage as many past students of Green Island High school to stand up and identify with our noble alma mater. We owe it to ourselves and to our successors. May they find our footprints worthy to follow.

DISTRIBUTION OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES
The GIHANA board has just recently passed a resolution to purchase school supplies valuing US$200, which will be distributed soon to the students at the school. We aim to make a difference.
