Dear Colleagues,
I greet you with well wishes for a happy and prosperous 2011.
The Green Island High Alumni of North America Association is in its 6th year
of operation, and has been instrumental in aiding in the development and welfare
of the Green Island High School and its pupils. We have had fundraisers, many
get-togethers, and have benefited from generous gifts from fellow alumni. However,
one vital source of our funding comes from our membership dues. Unfortunately,
over the past two years, we have seen a decline in our membership, coupled with
a drastic fall in dues payments.
I am, therefore, appealing to all past students of Green Island High School
to come on board and assist in keeping our flag of 'EXCELLENCE' flying high.
Become a member of the association by simply filling out a membership form,
which is readily available on our web site at www.greenislandalumni.com and
submitting your application with US$20.00 annual membership dues.
We are also looking for a core group of past students living in Jamaica to get
a local arm of our association operating right there at home. With such a committee
in Jamaica, the organization could have a liaison which will assist with guidelines
and to spearhead projects we are undertaking at the school.
Our objective remains; to enhance the lives and well-being of the pupils of
GIHS, and to keep the image of our noble Alma Mater in the spotlight of greatness
in the fields of education, sports and skills development.
Thanks for your continued support and dedication. Together GIHANA will make
a difference.
Sincerely yours,
Norrine Tavares
President
