GIHANA Annual President’s Report
This is the Annual Presidential report for the term 2008-2009. I would like to begin by stating the two main goals for the organization:
• To bring together and nourish the social, psychological and spiritual character of GIHANA's members and affiliates through group functions, social activities and meetings like this banquet. And

• To seek ways to plan and implement projects for the primary purpose of benefiting the development of the school and its pupils.
Our main objectives remain helping the school the best we can thus, fostering an atmosphere of learning. We hope to bring some new perspective to the association hence, adding to the momentum of last year. Our aim is to become a strategic partner with the school, therefore; continuing the tradition of Excellence in our students.
In May 2009, a group of ladies in New York Ms. Norrine Tavares, Mallie Heron & Dale Marr raised over US$5,000 from a Mothers Day event.
Subsequent to this event the Uniform Care Pac was formed, an amount in tune of JA$42,050.00 was allocated for the purchase of Uniforms in the form of blouses, shirts, pants and shoes these items will be handed over to the principal office.
Between January and June 09, the Project and Sponsorship committee got the Board’s approval to spend US$2000.00 equivalent to JA$175,000 to purchase nine (9) microscopes equipment and supplies for the school science laboratory.
As for expenses, we have strive and kept administrative expense down to approximately $20 per month.
Our only major expenditure of approximately $500 for preparation of tax returns for the last three (3) years.
Like every president who inherit an office faces challenges, my presidency is no different, I came into office with lot of expectation, one such expectation was to implement the Adopt a child Program . This objective never got off the ground and times after time I was criticize strongly and harshly for not establishing this important project. I also wanted to get more involve with business partners in the communities however as you all are aware of the economy downpour of the recession that was not possible. I do hope and pray that the next administration that lead this great body of alumni will fulfill the wishes of the organization in helping to create the Adopt a Child Program for 2009 -2010 term. The association has come a long way since its inception in 2005, and this is due to the hard working Board Members and dedicated Alumni. Please get involve in the affairs of the association. On July 4, 2009, we will have the election of new officers for the term 2009-2010. Please come out and vote.
Please accept this presidential report of the affairs of GIHANA for the term 2008-2009.

Thank you.
